A fire broke out in two coaches of the Mahanagri Express train stationed at the Wadi Bunder railway yard in Mazgaon area of Mumbai, civic officials said on Tuesday.

They said that the train was stationed at the railway yard for maintenance when a fire was reported in its coaches on Tuesday afternoon.

The incident was reported at 4:49 pm and involved bogies B1 and B2 of the AC Three Tier section, an official said.

The fire was confined to electrical wiring, switch boards, panels, AC compressors, and other interior items such as seat cushions, blankets, and pillows, an official said.

According to the Mumbai Fire Brigade (MFB), no injuries were reported.

Following the incident, the railway staff rushed to the spot and ensured that the affected bogies were detached from the rest of the train, helping to prevent the fire from spreading further, the official said.

The fire was completely extinguished by 6:11 pm, said the official.
