On account of the Ganeshotsav 2026, Passenger Reservation System (PRS) centres across Central Railway will operate for half a day on Monday, September 14, 2026.
According to Central Railway, the PRS centres will follow a Sunday working pattern on the festival day. The second shift of all PRS centres will remain closed from 2 pm to 10 pm.
However, to ensure passengers are not inconvenienced, Central Railway said that adequate counters will remain operational for emergency services during the second shift.
An official statement further highlighted that the railway has urged passengers to plan their ticketing and reservation-related activities accordingly and cooperate with the revised working schedule during the festive period.
Central Railway has also appealed to passengers to take note of the change in PRS centre timings to avoid inconvenience on Ganesh Chaturthi.
Central Railway has announced four additional unreserved special train services between Mumbai and Sawantwadi Road ahead of the Ganpati festival to accommodate the expected rise in passenger demand during the festival season.
The additional services are part of the 386 Ganpati Special trains announced by Indian Railways for the festival, which will be celebrated from September 14 to September 25, 2026.
As per the official statement, "Out of the total services, 258 will be operated by Central Railway, 64 by Western Railway, 58 by Konkan Railway and six by South Central Railway, in addition to regular trains."
Central Railway has also introduced a new daily express train between Mumbai and Sawantwadi Road, which started operating from September 8.
According to Central Railway, train 01009, an unreserved special, will depart from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) at 1:45 pm on September 12 and September 13. It will reach Sawantwadi Road at 3 am the following day.
In the return direction, train 01010 will leave Sawantwadi Road at 4:05 am on September 13 and September 14, reaching CSMT at 6:15 pm on the same day.
Together, these services will provide four additional trips between Mumbai and Sawantwadi Road, as per the official statement.
The special trains will halt at several stations along the route, including Dadar, Thane, Panvel, Pen, Roha, Mangaon, Veer, Karanjadi, Khed, Chiplun, Sawarda, Aravali Road, Sangameshwar Road, Ratnagiri, Adavali, Vilavade, Rajapur Road, Vaibhavwadi Road, Nandgaon Road, Kankavali, Sindhudurg, Kudal and Zarap.
