Mumbai local train AC failure: Commuters suffocate, one hospitalised after Titwala-CSMT AC local breakdown

Several commuters faced suffocation, and a few fainted briefly, after the air-conditioning system of a CSMT-bound AC local failed during peak rush hour on Monday. One commuter was taken to a hospital for medical assistance.

The AC train was subsequently operated with its doors open to improve ventilation.

The 8:33 am Titwala-CSMT AC local developed an AC failure mid-journey. Following complaints from commuters, the train was run with open doors between Mulund and Kurla to allow airflow.

According to the Central Railway spokesperson, the Titwala-18 train reported an AC failure and was cancelled at Kurla before being sent to the Kurla car shed.

"As per available information, one person was facing difficulty in breathing and medical help was requested at Mulund station. The other two persons were fine and continued their journey," the spokesperson said.
