Vikhroli, Powai and Bhandup among worst-hit as heavy rain lash Mumbai, check area-wise data

Mumbai's eastern suburbs received the highest rainfall between 8 am and 3 pm on Saturday, with Vikhroli recording the city's highest rainfall during the seven-hour period, the official data from the city's civic body stated.

According to rainfall data, the Building Proposal Office in Vikhroli West recorded 205.8 mm of rainfall, making it the wettest location in Mumbai on Saturday.

Top rainfall in eastern Mumbai

Several other locations in the eastern suburbs also recorded exceptionally heavy rainfall:

- Building Proposal Office, Vikhroli West - 205.8 mm

- Paspoli Municipal School, Powai - 197.6 mm

- Tagore Nagar Municipal School, Vikhroli - 194.4 mm

- Vikhroli Fire Station - 182.8 mm

- Bhandup Complex - 179.2 mm

The heavy rain led to waterlogging in several low-lying areas including the busy Andheri subway and affected normal movement across parts of the eastern suburbs.

Western suburbs also witness heavy showers

The western suburbs also experienced significant rainfall during the same period.

The highest readings included:

- Hinduhridaysamrat Balasaheb Thackeray Municipal School, Jogeshwari - 162 mm

- Chakala Municipal School, Andheri - 155.2 mm

- Andheri Fire Station - 153.4 mm

- K West Ward Office - 152.2 mm

- Chincholi Fire Station - 147 mm

- Lower Rainfall in South and Central Mumbai

Rainfall in the city division was comparatively lower.

The highest rainfall figures recorded were:

- Colaba Pumping Station - 75.4 mm

- Pratiksha Nagar Municipal School, Sion - 69.8 mm

- F North Ward Office - 62.6 mm

- Rawali Camp - 56.65 mm

- B Nadkarni Park Municipal School, Wadala - 55.6 mm

Heavy rain continues in Mumbai

The widespread rainfall comes as Mumbai remains under the influence of an active monsoon. Civic authorities continue to monitor the situation as heavy rain has caused waterlogging and traffic snarls in several parts of the city.

Civic officials have been deputed in parts of the city to avoid any untoward incident as rains continue in city.

Residents have been advised to remain cautious while travelling, as more rainfall is expected during the ongoing monsoon.
