Six passengers were left injured after a BEST bus crashed into a road divider at Mumbai's Powai Vihar Sankul on Thursday afternoon, police said.
According to officials, the incident took place at around 12:45 pm and was reported to the authorities at 1:50 pm after a citizen alerted them.
Preliminary information suggests that the BEST bus driver noticed a car approaching from the left side. While his attention was focused on the car, the bus veered and collided with a divider on the right side of the road.
The impact of the collision left six passengers with minor injuries. Acting swiftly, the bus conductor shifted all the injured passengers to Paramount Hospital in Sakinaka for treatment.
According to the hospital, all six passengers were treated on an outpatient basis and later discharged.
While the authorities are looking into the circumstances surrounding the accident. Fortunately, none of the passengers in the bus suffered major injury.
In a separate incident earlier on Tuesday, Brihanmumbai Electricity Supply and Transport (BEST) CNG bus hit a road divider after the driver allegedly swerved to avoid a motorcyclist who suddenly came in front of the vehicle in Borivali East late on Sunday night, officials said.
The incident took place at around 11:20 pm near the Daulat Nagar bus stop while the bus was travelling from Vaishali Nagar to Borivali (East).
According to the accident report, the motorcyclist entered the bus's path from the left lane without warning.
In an attempt to avoid a collision, the driver turned the steering wheel to the right, causing the bus to strike the divider and become lodged on it.
A towing vehicle was later called to remove the bus, which was taken back to the Magathane depot.
No injuries to passengers, the bus crew, or other road users have been reported in connection with the incident.
The extent of damage to the bus has not been disclosed.
