Two young Indian marsh crocodiles trapped inside a tank at a civic water treatment facility in Mumbai's Bhandup area were rescued by the Forest Department and wildlife NGO Resqink Association for Wildlife Welfare (RAWW) on Friday.
According to officials, the Mumbai Forest Department received a distress call reporting the presence of the reptiles in the tank. Forest personnel, along with wildlife rescuers from RAWW, rushed to the spot and safely rescued both crocodiles.
The reptiles were medically examined by veterinarians Dr Priti Sathe and Dr Kirti Sathe before being released into their natural habitat.
The rescue operation was carried out under the supervision of Deputy Conservator of Forests (Thane) Sachin Repal and Range Forest Officer (Mumbai) Santosh Dagle, in the presence of Round Officer Rama Bhangre and Forest Guard Jalinder Hatwate.
The operation was supervised by Chinmay Joshi and executed by wildlife rescuers Joaquim Naik and Aman Singh.
