There is a green alert for Mumbai for the weather after days of hot and humid conditions which persisted over the city, as per the India Meteorological Department (IMD). As per the IMD, the city will witness mainly clear skies, but hot and humid weather may continue. Maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be around 36 degree Celsius and 28 degree Celsius.
Over the weekend, parts of the city recorded high temperatures, along with even higher humidity. On Sunday, parts of western suburbs recorded temperature as high as 39.2 degree Celsius, while relative humidity touched 70 per cent as per Colaba weather station readings, and 60 per cent as per the Santacruz weather station readings during the morning hours.
A green alert for heat signifies normal, typical weather conditions with no immediate cause for concern or necessary action. It indicates that while temperatures may be warm, they are within the expected, comfortable range for the season and location, and there is no severe weather risk.
