Extreme heat grips Mumbai: Ram Mandir the hottest at 36.8 degrees Celsius

Mumbai witnessed warm and dry weather conditions on Wednesday, with maximum temperatures hovering in the mid-30s. No rainfall was recorded across observatories, as per the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD).

The weather forecasting agency further highlighted that the Colaba observatory recorded the maximum temperature at 33.8 degrees Celsius, while Santacruz registered a slightly higher 33.9 degrees Celsius. Neither stations reported rainfall activity (0.0 mm), indicating continued dry conditions in the city.

Ram Mandir records highest temperature at 36 degrees

Data from various monitoring stations across Mumbai showed some variations in temperatures. The IMD station at Ram Mandir recorded the highest temperature of 36.8 degrees Celsius, making it the hottest spot in the city for the day.

It was followed by Bandra with 35.1 degrees Celsius and Vikhroli with 34.8 degrees Celsius.

Other areas, such as Dahisar, recorded 33.6 degrees Celsius, while Vidyavihar and Chembur recorded 33.4 and 33.3 degrees Celsius, respectively.

Mumbai to continue experiencing extreme heat

The absence of rainfall and consistent heat levels reflect typical pre-monsoon conditions, with humidity expected to rise in the coming days. Furthermore, meteorological trends suggest that coastal winds may bring slight relief, but overall, warm and humid weather is likely to persist.

AQI levels across Mumbai

Bandra-Kurla Complex recorded an AQI of 58 (satisfactory), while Borivali East stood at 61(satisfactory). Byculla reported an AQI of 49 (good), and Andheri East recorded 74 (satisfactory).

Chembur registered an AQI of 48 (good), Colaba recorded 54 (satisfactory), Ghatkopar stood at 69 (satisfactory), and Kandivali reported an AQI of 51 .

Air quality stable in MMR region

In the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR), Thane recorded an AQI of 71, while Kalyan reported an AQI of 78. Navi Mumbai registered an AQI of 59. All the three locations continued to remain in the ‘satisfactory' category.

Overall, the weather and air quality conditions across Mumbai and its adjoining areas remained stable.

District-wise alert schedule

Mumbai, Thane, and Raigad have been placed under a yellow alert for four days, until Saturday, while Palghar will remain under yellow alert from Thursday to Saturday. Ratnagiri has been under yellow alert from until Friday.

Meanwhile, in Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg, hot and humid conditions are likely with the possibility of light rain or thundershowers during the afternoon or evening on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.
