Mumbai is set to witness mainly clear skies across the city and suburbs, with hot and humid conditions likely to prevail at isolated locations, especially in suburban areas, according to the India Meteorological Department.
The maximum temperature is expected to hover around 35 degrees Celsius, while the minimum may settle near 24 degrees Celsius, maintaining the typical warm and sticky conditions.
Meanwhile, the city's air quality remains in the âsatisfactory' category. According to the Central Pollution Control Board's Sameer App, Mumbai recorded an Air Quality Index (AQI) of 96 on Friday. However, authorities caution that such conditions may cause breathing discomfort to sensitive groups.
Across different parts of the city, AQI levels showed variation:
Bandra Kurla Complex: 156 (moderate)
Borivali: 135 (moderate)
Byculla: 93 (satisfactory)
Andheri East: 150 (moderate)
Chembur: 99 (satisfactory)
Colaba: 66 (satisfactory)
Deonar-Ghatkopar: 111 (moderate)
In neighbouring regions, Thane recorded an AQI of 111 (moderate), Kalyan 86 (satisfactory), and Navi Mumbai 125 (moderate).
Several parts of Maharashtra are experiencing warm to hot weather conditions, with temperatures hovering around or slightly above normal across coastal and interior regions.
In the Mumbai Metropolitan Region, Mumbai recorded a maximum temperature of 33.2 degrees Celsius at Colaba and 33.5 degrees Celsius at Santacruz. Minimum temperatures were 25 degrees Celsius and 22.2 degrees Celsius respectively, indicating warm and humid conditions, with morning humidity levels around 60 per cent.
Coastal areas such as Alibag and Dahanu reported maximum temperatures of 32.2 degrees Celsius and 34.2 degrees Celsius respectively. Higher humidity along the coast continues to result in sultry weather.
Interior districts are witnessing more intense heat. Sholapur recorded one of the highest temperatures at 38.2 degrees Celsius, followed by Sangli at 37.7 degrees Celsius and Parbhani at 37.1 degrees Celsius. Jalgaon and Jeur also reported temperatures above 36 degrees Celsius.
Relatively cooler conditions prevailed in hilly regions, with Mahabaleshwar recording a maximum of 28.4 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 17.6 degrees Celsius. Nashik saw a maximum of 32.5 degrees Celsius with cooler night temperatures around 17.4 degrees Celsius.
Among other regions, Aurangabad recorded 35.6 degrees Celsius (below normal), Kolhapur 35.6 degrees Celsius (near normal), Osmanabad 36.9 degrees Celsius, and Ratnagiri 33.7 degrees Celsius with high humidity.
Overall, dry weather conditions persist across the state, with a combination of inland heat and coastal humidity likely to continue in the coming days.
