Residents across several parts of Navi Mumbai will experience a 24-hour water supply disruption from 10.00 am on Wednesday, May 13, until 10.00 am on Thursday, May 14. Citizens are also likely to receive low-pressure and inadequate water supply on Thursday evening as the system gradually resumes operations.
According to a public notice from the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC), the shutdown is required for essential repairs and maintenance to the city's main distribution network.
The NMMC will be installing large-diameter valves at the CBD Belapur Sector-28 pumping house and the Bhokarpada Water Purification Centre. Additionally, teams will connect the main pipeline near Bhokarpada MBR and complete critical electrical and pre-monsoon maintenance.

Areas likely to be impacted include Belapur, Nerul, Vashi, Turbhe, Sanpada, Koparkhairane, Ghansoli, and Airoli. The disruption will also affect direct tap connections on the main water line and CIDCO nodes, including Kharghar and Kamothe.
With summer temperatures peaking and water demand at an all-time high, the shutdown is expected to impact lakhs of residents, businesses, and housing societies. Many societies have already started storing water to mitigate the shortage. Arvind Shinde, additional city engineer, NMMC, said, "We have requested residents to store adequate water in advance and use it judiciously during the affected period."
Civic officials maintained that the work is necessary to strengthen the city's water infrastructure before the monsoon and avoid future leakages, technical failures, and emergency shutdowns during heavy rains. In its appeal, the civic body urged citizens to use water carefully during the shutdown period and cooperate with the administration.
