One dead, four injured in collision between BEST bus and tempo traveller in Dadar

A late-night collision near Dadar left one dead and four others injured when a BEST bus collided with a tempo traveller, which also hit a taxi and a tourist vehicle. Injured victims are being treated at Sion Hospital

A man was killed, and four others sustained injuries in a late-night collision between a BEST bus and a tempo traveller near Dadar. The tempo traveller also rammed into a taxi and a tourist vehicle during the incident. All injured are currently undergoing treatment at Sion Hospital, while the Shivaji Park Police have launched a detailed investigation.

According to police officials, the incident took place around 11:30 pm on Sunday near Veer Kotwal Udyan in Dadar. The BEST bus (Route No. 169) was on its way from Worli to Pratiksha Nagar when a tempo traveller coming from the Dadar TT direction collided with the right side of the moving bus.

Due to the impact, the bus skidded towards the left, crashing into passengers and pedestrians standing near the Plaza bus stop. One person died on the spot, while four others were seriously injured. The tempo traveller, unable to regain control, went on to hit a taxi and a tourist car, causing further damage.

Preliminary information reveals that a tempo traveller (20-seater) coming from Dadar TT towards Shivaji Park lost control and crashed into the front-right side of the moving bus. The impact caused the bus to skid towards the left and plough into pedestrians standing at the bus stop.

One pedestrian, identified as Shahabuddin (37), sustained fatal injuries and was rushed to Sion Hospital, where doctors declared him dead before admission. The injured include three men and one woman identified as Rahul Ashok Padale (30),Rohit Ashok Padale (33), Akshay Ashok Padale (25) and Vidya Rahul Mote (28).

All were immediately shifted to Sion Hospital by the bus conductor and local police, where they are undergoing treatment.

In the aftermath, the tempo traveller also collided with a taxi and a tourist car, damaging both vehicles. The BEST bus's front-right tyre burst, and its windscreen was completely shattered due to the impact. The case is currently being investigated by Shivaji Park Police, while the bus has been moved to Wadala Depot for RTO inspection.
