In another incident, a fire broke out in the meter room of a residential building in Maharashtra's Thane city in the early hours of Thursday, damaging 12 electricity meters, an official said.

No person was injured in the blaze, which erupted at 1.12 am in the meter room on the ground floor of the three-storey Sarika Apartment building located in the Pachpakhadi area, Thane regional disaster management cell chief Yasin Tadvi said.

Smoke emanating from the meter room triggered panic among residents, prompting them to rush out of their homes as a precautionary measure.

After being alerted, fire personnel rushed to the spot.
