A case has been registered against over 100 people who participated in human chain protests allegedly conducted without permission in Maharashtra's Thane district, police reported on Monday.
On Saturday, police registered a first information report regarding the protests that took place at six locations in the Mumbra area, according to an official, reported news agency PTI.
The officials informed that the protests took place on the afternoon of May 16 despite the prohibitory orders imposed under the Maharashtra Police Act, reported PTI.

"No permission was granted for this protest. The organisers went ahead, potentially disturbing communal harmony and law and order," an official said, reported news agency PTI.
The official said a case has been registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), the Maharashtra Police Act, and three accused have been identified.
The agitation was held to protest an expulsion order against a local journalist, it was stated.
The police on Monday said that a case has been registered against three men for allegedly trespassing into a stockyard and assaulting a staffer of the facility in Navi Mumbai, reported news agency PTI.
The incident occurred at a Navi Mumbai stockyard in Kon village in Panvel on the evening of May 16, an official said.
As per a complaint, Deepak Hake, a former sarpanch of Kon village, and his associates Kunal Gaikwad and Jitesh Kamble forcibly entered the premises without permission and forced the in-charge Rajubhai Patel to sign an unspecified document, the official said, reported PTI.
Patel, in his complaint, alleged that when he refused to sign the document, citing his inability to read Marathi, the trio allegedly slapped and punched him and threatened him, reported PTI.
The official said a first information report has been registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, but no arrests have been made.
