Western Railway suspends train services after water reaches danger mark; several trains cancelled

Train services on Western Railway were severely affected on Thursday after the water level reached the danger mark at a bridge between Gholvad and Umbergaon Road, forcing the suspension of train movement on the section.

According to Western Railway, several long-distance, suburban and passenger trains have been cancelled, short-terminated, diverted or rescheduled due to waterlogging in the Umargam-Gholvad section.

Several trains cancelled

Among the major trains cancelled for July 23 are:

Short-terminated and short-originated services

Several trains have also been short-terminated due to the disruption:

12922 Surat-Mumbai Central Flying Ranee has been short-terminated at Udhna, with services cancelled between Udhna and Mumbai Central.
59024 Valsad-Mumbai Central Passenger has been short-terminated at Pardi, with services cancelled between Pardi and Mumbai Central.
19002 Surat-Virar has been short-terminated at Valsad, with services cancelled between Valsad and Virar.

Suburban services have also been curtailed:

93005 Churchgate-Dahanu Road has been short-terminated at Vangaon, with services cancelled between Vangaon and Dahanu Road.
93010 Dahanu Road-Borivali will originate from Vangaon, with services cancelled between Dahanu Road and Vangaon.
Train diverted, others rescheduled

The 09323 Khadki-Indore Express has been diverted via Lonavala, Karjat, Panvel, Kalyan, Igatpuri, Jalgaon, Paldhi and Surat.

Western Railway has also rescheduled two trains:

12922 Surat-Mumbai Central will now depart at 6 am instead of 5:10 am.
12935 Bandra Terminus-Surat Intercity Express will depart at 7:35 am instead of 6:35 am.

Heavy rain disrupts train services between Dahanu and Valsad

Meanwhile, heavy rainfall and rising water levels disrupted train services on Western Railway's Dahanu-Valsad section on Thursday morning, prompting authorities to suspend operations at multiple locations as a precautionary measure.

According to Western Railway's latest update issued at 8:35 am, train movement was affected after water levels at several railway bridges reached the danger mark.

Traffic restored at Umargam Road-Gholvad bridge

Train services on Bridge No. 203 between Umargam Road and Gholvad, which were suspended at 4:43 am after water levels touched the danger mark, resumed at 6:50 am.

However, trains are currently operating with a speed restriction of 15 kmph.

Services remain suspended at two locations

Train movement on both the UP and DOWN lines continues to remain suspended at:

Bridge No. 230 (Sanjan Yard), where operations were halted from 6:45 am after water levels reached the danger mark.
Bridge No. 284 (between Udvada and Vapi), where both Up and Down line services were suspended from around 7:05 am due to rising water levels.

Western Railway has advised passengers to check the latest train status before starting their journey and cooperate with railway staff.
