The accident was reported at around 10.45 am, and all four victims were taken to Sion Hospital, where one was declared brought dead. Police are investigating the circumstances leading to the crash
As per information received from Dr Randhir, Assistant Medical Officer (AMO), Sion Hospital, one unidentified male aged around 22-25 years was declared brought dead on arrival
The injured include Rishabh Gupta (approx. 25–30 years), who sustained a head injury and is in critical condition, Satish Waghambare (48), a BEST inspector, who suffered chest and head injuries, and Mahesh Doiphode (50), who sustained injuries to his left shoulder and blunt trauma
The bus driver has been taken into custody, officials said
Authorities are yet to ascertain the exact cause of the incident, and an investigation is expected to follow
The incident has once again brought attention to growing concerns over road safety in the city. Mumbaikars are forced to live with constant risks, fires in residential buildings, collapsing structures, infrastructure failures, open manholes during the monsoon and roads riddled with hazards
The rising number of accidents involving BEST buses has only deepened these concerns. Pedestrians, motorists and commuters alike are increasingly wary of sharing the road with buses that seem to be involved in accidents with disturbing regularity
