Equity benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty declined in early trade on Tuesday amid uncertainty on the geopolitical and global trade front. Foreign fund outflows also weighed on investors' sentiments. The 30-share BSE Sensex declined 194.65 points to 81,179.10 in early trade. The NSE Nifty dipped 62.35 points to 24,654.25.
Fifteen-year-old Sudhir Gupta was overjoyed on receiving his SSC results. The hardworking teenager, who also helped his fruit-seller father in Vashi every day, secured the top rank in his school with an impressive 91.40 per cent in the recent SSC exams. Sainath English High School, Vashi, has even put up a banner displaying the toppers' photos and ranks, with Sudhir featured at No. 1. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has demolished the entire structure of the Opal Convention Centre's air-conditioned dome, which hosted Borivli's biggest Navratri celebrations for the past two years. Civic officials allege that the structure was constructed illegally without permission from the relevant BMC departments, even as it was rented out for weddings, exhibitions, and large-scale events.
