In the one-off Test match against Afghanistan, Team India's skipper Shubman Gill delivered a blistering knock of 126 runs. His knock came in 177 deliveries, laced with 15 boundaries and a maximum.
Speaking on his knock, former England cricketer and JioStar expert Graeme Swann said that the right-handed batsman doesn't try to dominate early in the match and trusts his game.
"There is an inevitability about Shubman Gill when he walks into bat. You just feel he is going to get a hundred. He is very calm, and that is what I like about him. Whether he is facing Jofra Archer bowling at 150 kmph or batting on a flat Day 1 pitch against Afghanistan, his approach never changes. He doesn't get flustered. He doesn't try to dominate early. He just trusts his game," he said on Cricket Live.
The former cricketer also added that it is a pleasure to watch a batsman like Gill with such maturity and class.
"He has so much time. He plays beautiful shots, the cover drive, the flick off the pads, the soft hands on the defensive. He is a pleasure to watch. From the moment he got going today, he looked destined for a century. An early boundary settled him in, and once he was in, there was no stopping him. His feet moved well, his head was still, and his shot selection was spot on. It was a joy to watch a batter of his class bat with such maturity and class," added Swann.
In the one-off Test match against Afghanistan, Team India has reached 475 runs at the stroke of lunch on Day 2 at the Maharaja Singh PCA Stadium in New Chandigarh.
