Kylian Mbappe
Kylian Mbappe will spearhead France at the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup as coach Didier Deschamps, on Thursday, announced his 26-man squad for the tournament in USA, Canada and Mexico.
Deschamps, who guided France to World Cup glory in 2018, did not spring too many surprises - the biggest absentee was Real Madrid midfielder Eduardo Camavinga, while backup goalkeeper Robin Risser is the only uncapped player in the squad.
"It's a squad. Not necessarily the 26 best players. It's about balance and how the team comes together," Deschamps told French TV channel TF1.
The star-studded roster also includes the likes of Paris Saint-Germain's Ballon d'Or winner Ousmane Dembele, Bayern Munich forward Michael Olise, Man City winger Rayan Cherki, and PSG attacker Desire Doue. Midfield stalwart N'golo Kante, who now plies his trade at Turkish club Fenerbahce, is also part of the squad. The World Cup kicks off on June 11.
