The rivalry between Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner was birthed here in their first ATP-tour encounter. The then 18-year-old Spaniard showcased his power-hitting capabilities to beat the then 20-year-old Italian 7-6 (7-1), 7-5 in a closely fought match.

Facing each other with a championship on the line for the first time, it was Sinner who prevailed. The current World No. 2 recovered from a set down to win the tie 6-7 (5-7), 6-1, 6-1 despite Alcaraz's solid defensive display that earned plaudits from pundits and fans alike.

3 US Open 2022 Quarter-finals (Winner: Alcaraz)
The duo gave viewers a true taste of what was to come in this epic five-setter at Flushing Meadows that lasted five hours and 15 minutes. At the end of it, Alcaraz won 6-3, 6-7 (5-7), 6-7 (0-7), 7-5, 6-3 after saving one match point.

4 French Open 2025 Final (Winner: Alcaraz)
Facing each other in a Grand Slam final for the first time, the Italian began in commanding fashion by grafting a two-set lead, before the Spaniard hit back in tremendous fashion. Alcaraz won the third set, saved three championship points in the fourth, and clinched the tie-breaker in the fifth to win 4-6, 6-7(7-4), 6-4, 7-6(7-3), 7-6(10-2) in a tie that lasted five hours and 29 minutes - the longest in Roland Garros history.

5 Wimbledon 2025 Final (Winner: Sinner)
Sinner bounced back emphatically from his French Open defeat. He showed nerves of steel and rallied from a set down to defeat Alcaraz 4-6, 6-4, 6-4, 6-4. In doing so, he became the first Italian to win a singles title at SW19.
