Khushi Pahwa of Ryan International School CBSE, (Kandivli) and Akshat Raipurana of Bombay International School (Gamdevi) clinched the boys and girls U-16 titles respectively in the Dream Sports Mumbai School Sports Association (MSSA) inter-school badminton tournament at Andheri Sports Complex (Andheri), on Monday.
In the girls U-16 final, Khushi was clinical as she outplayed Thea Sheth of Arya Vidya Mandir (Bandra) in straight games. Pahwa dictated the rallies from the start, executing sharp drops and well-angled smashes to seal the contest 21-13, 21-15.
The boys U-16 title, however, was decided without a shot being played. Akshat Raipurana of Bombay International School was declared the winner after Zehn Masani of Maneckji Cooper Education Trust School (Juhu) conceded the match due to an injury. Earlier, in the U-14 category, Anvisha Pramod Ghorpade of Sane Guruji English Medium School (Dadar) beat Imaan Motorwala of Fazlani L'Academie Globale (Mazgaon) 15-21, 21-17, 21-13. Among the boys, Mayank Rajput of Police School (Thane) beat Arjun Raut of SSPM's Sri Sri Ravishankar Vidya Mandir (Borivli) 21-9, 21-11.
