A burglar pulled off a film-style escape on Friday in Dharavi, when he squeezed through the exhaust fan duct of a toilet. The accused, identified as Mohommad Shekho Nanhe Khan, was arrested on October 10 for a house breaking case. He had been produced in court and remanded to police custody till Monday.

Senior police inspector Babaji Pandharinath Aavhad from Shahu Nagar police station, Dharavi, said, “At around 8 pm on Friday, the accused told a constable that he wished to go to the bathroom. The constable took him to the police station toilet.”

2. As the constable stood guard at the door, Khan removed the exhaust fan from the toilet and escaped from the gap

After waiting for almost 30 minutes, the constable started calling out to Khan, as he didn’t come out. When he got no response, the constable broke the door of the toilet.

3. Half an hour later, when Khan still didn’t come out, the constable broke the door to find an empty toilet, and a hole in the wall from where the burglar had fled

“He found that the exhaust fan of the toilet had been removed and Khan had escaped from the gap in the wall,” added Aavhad. The police have formed lookout teams to re-arrest the accused.u00a0
