A corpse with its head completely severed from the body was discovered at railway tracks around 11 pm.
The man's body whose identity is yet to be known was discovered on the tracks at platform number 2 of Pune railway station. According to the police, passengers raised an alarm when a long distance train departed and his corpse was found below. Ambulance drivers who brought his body to the post mortem centre at Sassoon hospital said that it was a gruesome sight as there was a lot of blood loss.
Another difficult task was lifting the body that was severed into two parts. Railway Police officials said it was too early to say if this was an accident or a suicide case. It would be known after establishing his identity.
