Earthquake tremors felt on Konkan railway route

A few stations on Chiplun-Ukshi section on Konkan Railway route experienced earthquake tremors at 7.33 am today.


The quake measuring 3.2 on Richter Scale was reported by Station Masters of Kamathe, Savarda, Ukshi and Sangameshwar stations.


No damage has occurred to any of the engineering structures on the rail route following the quake.


Soon after getting the information on quake, local Konkan Railway officials inspected all the engineering structures, including tracks, cuttings, tunnels and bridges and reported that they were safe.

As a result of the quake, Train 12432 Rajdhani Express was stopped for 35 minutes, 12617 Mangala Express for about an hour and 19577 Tiruvelveli-Hapa Express was stopped for 45 minutes. The trains were restarted after getting Track Fit Certificate at 9.20 am.
