Lilavati Hospital has refuted reports that Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar, who is currently undergoing treatment there, has been diagnosed with a major illness. The hospital said that he is responding properly to the treatment provided. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also visited him at the hospital to get an update on his health. On February 15, Parrikar was rushed to Lilavati Hospital after reportedly suffering from food poisoning when he started vomiting and had an upset stomach.

Later there were reports that he has been suffering from a pancreatic ailment. However, the hospital has refuted them as "malicious and misleading" in an official statement issued on Sunday evening. "We categorically deny all such rumours. We reiterate that Hon. Chief Minister of Goa is being treated and is responding well to the treatment," stated the letter issued by Ajaykumar Pandey, vice president of the hospital. The statement was also tweeted by the official handle of the Goa Chief Minister's Office.

Tarun Vijay, former MP, BJP, also tweeted saying the reports were wrong. "There are some news being spread by certain media about the health of Manohar Parrikar. I spoke to one of their OSDs just now - he says all news regarding 'cancer' is fake and untrue," he tweeted."

Narendra Sawaikar, Member of Parliament, (Lok Sabha) South Goa tweeted, "On advice of Drs. CM Manohar Parrikar will be continuing with his treatment for pancreas in Mumbai. His treatment is in right direction and is responding to the same. He needs sufficient time to recover. We pray for his speedy recovery." Earlier, Parrikar's office in Goa, in a statement, had said that he won't be available in the office for two days since he was admitted to Lilavati Hospital for treatment.
