As campaigns for assembly elections are in top gear, every political party is also using social media to spread messages against their opponents. For the past few days, messages that end with ‘Arey kuthe nevun thevla aahe Maharashtra majha’ Arey, what have you done to my Maharashtra have gone viral on Facebook, Twitter, WhatsApp, etc.

Targeting the Congress-NCP government, they comment on Maharashtra’s current situation. However, some people changed the content to add funny and ‘obscene’ sentences before the sentence about the condition of the state. Annoyed, Mayor Snehal Ambekar (in pic) has appealed to people not to spread such messages, as she feels they malign the image of the state.

Fed up of reading such messages, Ambekar has posted this on her Facebook page on Sunday: ‘By writing obscene SMSs ending with ‘arey kuthe nevun thevlay Maharashtra majha’ to entertain yourself, you are maligning the state.
Friends, have fun, but remember that you are talking about Maharashtra, which does not belong to any political party, but to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. If you feel proud of the state, then I request you not to send such messages which malign our Maharashtra.’ Ambekar was not available for comment.
