Canadian desi artist, Parichay, joins the music charts in India

Parichay

Canadian singer & composer, Parichay, known for his songs with Vishal Dadlani, Neha Kakkar, Sunidhi Chauhan, Jonita Gandhi and Gippy Grewal in Bollywood films such as Loveshhuda & Char Din Ki Chandni as well as singles with Nargis Fakhri, Sean Kingston and Kardinal Offishall, recently released his 6th studio album titled, Moodz 2 with musical vibes ranging across several genres including Pop, R&B, Hip Hop, Afrobeats, Desi and lyrics in Hindi, Punjabi and English.

Having grown up in the city of Toronto, Parichay stayed true to his roots of creating fusion music that is universal in sound and appeal. With this latest release, it is evident that there is now a huge appetite for such an amalgamation of sounds within the Asian subcontinent and fans are showering their love on this artist they’ve often referred to as “underrated” in comments on his social media posts.

From the overall vibe of Moodz 2, we hear a huge western-urban influence in the music while he flaunts his silky-smooth voice in emotionally charged lyrics. The album also shows immense versatility by covering love songs in Hindi and catchy dance songs in Punjabi, all with uniquely blended sounds. With a change in the youth’s musical tastes and the sudden growth of independent music on streaming platforms, what was once considered alternative or futuristic music a few years ago, happens to be the current sound in the country.

With the dramatic rise of Hip Hop and other forms of urban music in India, Parichay says “I was once told by the CEO of a major record label in India that Hip Hop would never come to India in a big way as there is no street-life in the country. Fast forward to Gully Boy and every major label’s artist signing spree, the rest is history. I have always been able to see future trends

From the latest numbers we’ve seen, Moodz 2 released by N-tro Records, clocked in over 10 million streams and views across platforms and sources tell us that Parichay has signed on to compose the soundtrack of an upcoming Bollywood film as a result of this success.

With a growing number of Indians recently migrating to Canada, we could see the Canadian desi music scene growing substantially and listeners are in for a treat with a number of new artists joining the lineup all while the fans-list keeps exploding simultaneously.

The album, Moodz 2 was funded in part by FACTOR, the Government of Canada and Canada’s private radio broadcasters and the result is epic.
