Recently, a rumour claiming that legendary singer Asha Bhosle has passed away has been circulating on the internet. The news left her fans in shock after it began spreading rapidly on social media channels. However, Asha's son Anand Bhosle has now dismissed all such rumours. The incident once again showcases the spread of false news on social media.

Asha Bhosle death rumours

It all started after a Facebook user named Shabana Shaikh shared a photo of singer Asha Bhosle with a garland of flowers placed on it. In the caption, the user wrote, "Famous singer Asha Bhosle passed away - a musical era ends (01 July 2025)." Meanwhile, another post made a similar claim saying, "Ham ne ek aor anmol kalakaar kho diye. (We have lost another gem)."

Another user quipped, "Legendary Singer Asha Bhosle Passes Away – A Musical Era Ends (01 July, 2025) Date of Passing: 01 July 2025. India mourns the loss of a true musical legend. On 1st July, 2025, the iconic playback singer Asha Bhosle passed away, marking the end of an era that defined Indian music across generations.…" (sic)

Anand Bhosle reacts

The legendary singer's son, Anand Bhosle, has now reacted to the news by quashing the reports. He quashed all reports by telling ETimes, "It's untrue." Interestingly, Asha Bhosle was recently seen honouring her late husband, legendary music composer Rahul Dev Burman, on the occasion of his 85th birth anniversary. Similarly, on June 27, the singer paid tribute by offering heartfelt respect to his harmonium, along with an array of awards and medals displayed around his photograph.

Talking about her late husband, Asha had said, "His music was his inspiration. He used to do something new with it. He would tell me to do something different, like change my voice. And he has given me a lot of inspiration. I have learnt a lot from him. He used to help me with those songs," she had said.

Additionally, she was also seen attending the screening of Rekha's 1981 film Umrao Jaan's theatrical re-release. In a video that went viral from the screening, she even performed the film's song, Dil Cheez Kya Hai, as she was joined on stage by Muzaffar and Rekha.
