I am 24 and I work in a business centre. I love my best friend and I recently came to know that her parents want her to get married. After five years of friendship, it will be difficult to let go of her. At first, I thought she had some other guy in mind as she refused a proposal from their caste. In time, I learnt the truth. She wants to do something for her younger sisters before her marriage. In one instant, I thought of breaking contact with her so I could forget her. It worked for days but then I realised that she wouldn't be able to fulfil her desire without my support. I always want to see her happy. What should I do? Help her and continue our friendship or fulfil her wishes and fade away from her life. She's more than 'just a friend' to me!

Getting more involved will only serve to make you want her more. The more time you spend with her, will make it difficult for you to stay apart. First of all, have you even told her about your feelings? There's no point pining after her if it turns out you never were in contention in the first place. If you want to remain friends with her, you will have to do so at her terms (whatever those may be ). You would do well to gauge what her feelings for you are, what her reactions to your proposal would be etc. If you want to see her happy, be willing to wait and be a good friend first.

Who do you feel happier with? Who is your family closer to? You obviously cannot marry both of them. Which one loves you more? Choose a partner you will love and who will love you back equally and who will accept you as you are.

I am married and have two beautiful children. I suspect my husband of having an affair. He works for a BPO and this one female was working with him in his earlier office. She calls in very frequently and at times even he keeps calling her. I try confronting him over this but he gets angry and then doesn't talk with me for days. How do I find out the truth? Please advise me as this is causing a lot of strain in our married life. Our children are also being affected by this. My son (he's in Std 10) cannot concentrate on his studies.

Constant arguments will only bring more hurt and pain. Accusations and counter-accusations will deteriorate what's left of your marriage. Tell your husband you will believe him only if he stops taking her calls. If you can get her number, ask to meet her and sort out whatever issues you might have by confronting her amicably. Speak to her and figure out what the nature of her 'special friendship' with your husband is. If she is, indeed having an affair with your husband, you will know in no time at all.
