Delhi’s OG sizzle joint — still hot after all these years — arrives in Mumbai, with the promise to serve the same comforting, lip-smacking fare
Brownie Ice Cream Sizzler
If you’re a Dilliwallah, chances are the sizzle of a Gola platter meant more than just dinner — it was an outing, a small celebration, the kind of meal that came with family drama and comfort in equal measure. After over three decades of serving patrons in Delhi, and seven pan-Indian locations, Gola Sizzlers recently debuted in Mumbai at Andheri’s Times Square complex. In 1988, Naresh Kapoor moved away from his family’s water business to start Gola 31, a modest ice gola cart offering 31 flavours — a novelty at the time. That spark soon grew. From catering themed parties, to launching Delhi’s first-ever sizzler restaurant in 1992, Kapoor was always one step ahead.
Sons Rajat and Manik
Kapoor joined in, helping to expand the brand. Now, their story continues with the third generation; executive chef Shaurya Veer (Culinary Institute of America alumnus) and Aaryan Kapoor (New York University Economics graduate) who helms marketing and operations, are bringing fresh energy and ideas to the table.

Prawn Sicilian Sizzler and Classic Butter Chicken
We were welcomed on a Wednesday evening with the sound of loud ’90s music, and the sight of the office folk letting their hair down. Wednesdays and Fridays are music nights, and given the number of corporate offices in the neighbourhood, the mid- week vibe is high-energy. Around us, plumes of smoke rose from sizzling platters, each one turning heads as it passed by. We began with the Burnt Garlic Soup (Rs 319) — a comforting bowl of rich, savoury broth, its depth enhanced by the smoky aroma of slow-roasted garlic. The Veg Manchurian (Rs 499), tossed in a bold garlic-soy glaze, was all crunch and umami. The Prawn Tempura Roll (Rs 549) offered a winning contrast — crunchy exterior, creamy filling, and a satisfying bite.

Crackling Spinach Chicken and Honey Chilli Potato Sizzler
Then came the Crackling Spinach Chicken (Rs 599) — juicy chicken bites paired with crisp, fried spinach, all brought together by a sweet-spicy sauce that hit just the right note of heat and freshness. From the sizzler section, we selected the Honey Chilli Potato Sizzler (Rs 849) — golden, honey-glazed fries served on a bed of noodles, paired with a crisp spring roll for added crunch and drama. The Prawn Sicilian Sizzler (Rs 949) brings a Mediterranean twist with grilled prawns bathed in a zesty sauce, served over sizzling vegetables and spaghetti. But the dish that stole our hearts was the classic Butter Chicken (Rs 649) — creamy, mildly spiced, with tender tandoori chicken in every bite; it was rich, comforting, and impossible not to finish.

We ended with the indulgent Brownie Ice Cream Sizzler (Rs 499) — a gooey brownie on a hot plate, topped with vanilla ice cream and molten chocolate sauce that bubbled and hissed as it landed. The Mumbai outpost stays true to the North Indian, comfort-first DNA. What’s new is the space — sleek interiors, an open grill, and a layout that welcomes both loyalists and first-timers. This isn’t a reinvention but a reintroduction, we feel. We also learnt that a lounge version is expected in Bandra in the coming months.
