Maharashtra Transport Minister Partap Sarnaik on Thursday addressed the All Logistic Welfare Association Summit in Mumbai. He said the state is gearing up to become the country's leading logistics gateway.

Sarnaik highlighted Mumbai’s fast-growing role not only as India’s financial capital but also as a major international cargo hub.

The city manages substantial exports, including pharmaceuticals, fresh agricultural produce, engineering goods, and electronics, reinforcing Maharashtra’s strong position in global trade.

Mumbai-Nagpur Samruddhi Highway boosts connectivity

The minister emphasised the state government’s focus on connecting Maharashtra with markets in the Middle East, Europe, and Southeast Asia.

Significant investments in infrastructure, including high-speed corridors like the Mumbai-Nagpur Samruddhi Highway, have reduced travel time and accelerated freight movement across the state.

Under the PM GatiShakti Master Plan, the state is coordinating with the central government to integrate ports, airports, railways, and roads, making logistics operations more seamless and efficient, Sarnaik added.

He also stressed the role of road transport, which carries over 65 per cent of freight, and noted that the department is working closely with associations like the All India Transporters Welfare Association and Bombay Goods Transport Association. Online and faceless RTO services have further improved transparency and efficiency.

Air Cargo India and Transport Logistics India highlighted

International exhibitions such as ‘Air Cargo India’ and ‘Transport Logistics India,’ organised by Messe Muenchen India, bring together industry leaders, policymakers, global partners, and technology providers, fostering collaboration and investment in the sector.

“Maharashtra is committed to building a fast, smart, and world-class logistics ecosystem,” Sarnaik said, expressing confidence that the state will become India’s leading logistics gateway.

Salary hike arrears credited to 86,000 MSRTC employees, says Minister Pratap Sarnaik

On Wednesday, Sarnaik announced that pending salary hike arrears have been credited to the bank accounts of nearly 86,000 employees of the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC).

According to an official statement, the dues for February were deposited on Tuesday, bringing relief to thousands of employees who had been awaiting payments amid financial and technical hurdles.

Sarnaik stated that the corporation had faced difficulties in clearing the arrears due to a shortage of funds. In response, the state government stepped in and immediately provided financial support of Rs 100 crore to ensure timely disbursement.

“This is not just financial assistance but a reflection of the government’s sensitivity and commitment towards employees,” Sarnaik said, highlighting the administration’s proactive approach in addressing employee concerns.
