The Thane city in Maharashtra on Thursday reported 14 new Covid-19 cases, taking the overall number of confirmed cases to 86, the civic officials said.
Out of these, 16 patients have completed their five-day home isolation period and have now recovered, they said.
Currently, 17 patients are admitted to hospitals, all of whom are reported to be in stable condition. Of these, 16 are receiving treatment in private hospitals, while 1 patient is admitted to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Hospital in Kalwa, the Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) officials said.
Meanwhile, 52 patients are under home isolation, and their health is also reported to be stable, officials said.
A day before, on May 28, the Thane city had reported 12 new coronavirus positive cases, officials had said on Wednesday.
Maharashtra is recently witnessing a surge in the Covid-19 cases. However, health authorities said that most patients are exhibiting mild symptoms of the virus.
Since January, a total of 8,282 Covid-19 tests have been conducted in Maharashtra, of which 435 turned out to be positive. On Tuesday alone, 66 new cases were reported from across the state, with Mumbai recording 31 cases.
The health department officials had earlier stated that the increase in Covid-19 cases is not unique to Maharashtra but has also been observed in other states and some countries worldwide.
19 Covid patients hospitalised in Delhi, people need not worry: CM Rekha Gupta
Meanwhile, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Thursday said that 19 Covid patients are hospitalised in Delhi but there is no need to worry, reported the PTI.
The Delhi government is alert and hospitals are ready, the chief minister told reporters at Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Hospital.
"Nineteen patients are admitted to hospitals and the remaining are receiving treatment at their homes. But Covid-19 has not reached the point where people need to worry. The government is ready for every situation," Gupta said, according to the PTI.
She also underlined the need for people to remain cautious.
Delhi had 104 active Covid-19 cases till Monday, according to official data.
Health officials said 24 patients recovered in the past week.
Last week, the Delhi government issued an advisory to hospitals, asking them to ensure availability of beds, medicines and oxygen.
