The Thane city in Maharashtra on Thursday reported 14 new Covid-19 cases, taking the overall number of confirmed cases to 86, the civic officials said.

Out of these, 16 patients have completed their five-day home isolation period and have now recovered, they said.

Currently, 17 patients are admitted to hospitals, all of whom are reported to be in stable condition. Of these, 16 are receiving treatment in private hospitals, while 1 patient is admitted to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Hospital in Kalwa, the Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) officials said.

Meanwhile, 52 patients are under home isolation, and their health is also reported to be stable, officials said.

A day before, on May 28, the Thane city had reported 12 new coronavirus positive cases, officials had said on Wednesday.

Maharashtra is recently witnessing a surge in the Covid-19 cases. However, health authorities said that most patients are exhibiting mild symptoms of the virus.

Since January, a total of 8,282 Covid-19 tests have been conducted in Maharashtra, of which 435 turned out to be positive. On Tuesday alone, 66 new cases were reported from across the state, with Mumbai recording 31 cases.

The health department officials had earlier stated that the increase in Covid-19 cases is not unique to Maharashtra but has also been observed in other states and some countries worldwide.
