IAF Jaguar jet crash: Pilots identified as investigation begins

The names of the two pilots were officially released by the IAF on Thursday in a brief statement. The IAF conveyed its sorrow, stating, "The pilots who attained 'veergati' in yesterday's Jaguar crash were -- Sqn Ldr Lokender and Flt Lt Rishi Raj Singh."

However, the statement did not include any details regarding the ages of the two pilots, according to news agency PTI. 


Meanwhile, on Wednesday, the IAF had publicly announced the incident, confirming that, "An IAF Jaguar Trainer aircraft met with an accident during a routine training mission and crashed near Churu in Rajasthan, today."



Moreover, the force also extended its heartfelt condolences, stating it "deeply regrets" the tragic loss of lives and stands firmly with the bereaved families during this difficult period of grief and mourning.

While on the side the Rajasthan police officials have provided further details regarding the timing of the crash, stating that the jet carshed on the ground at approximately 1:25 PM on Wednesday.

Moreover, the aircraft crashed into an agricultural field within Bhanoda village, according to SHO Kamlesh of Rajaldesar.

He further added details, confirming that human body parts were also found near the crash site, indicating the devastating impact of the accident, reported PTI.

Immediately following the crash, local residents quickly rushed to the site, where they discovered the burning debris scattered across the field.

However following the incidents, the police from both Rajaldesar and Ratangarh, along with fire brigade officials and ambulances, were immediately dispatched to the scene, reported PTI.

Moreover, the area was immediately cordoned off to ensure safety, facilitate rescue and recovery operations, and preserve the crash site for further investigation.

Meanwhile, the Rajasthan Governor Haribhau Bagade and Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma have both publicly expressed their grief over the tragic incident.

Chief Minister Sharma conveyed his sorrow via a post on X (formerly Twitter), stating, "Sad news of the crash of an Indian Air Force plane in Ratangarh area of Churu district has been received. Immediately after the incident, the administration is in alert mode and instructions have been given to the officials for relief and rescue work."

He also offered prayers for the peace of the departed souls.

Moreover, the Governor also conveyed his sincere condolences over the deaths, stating the loss of lives felt across the state.
