In a surprising incident at Kanpur Airport, an Indigo Kanpur-Delhi flight was delayed by three hours after a rat was spotted inside the aircraft. The unexpected rodent created panic among passengers and crew, ultimately leading to the prolonged delay.
The surprising incident took place on Sunday, 21 September, when the Indigo flight landed at Kanpur Airport at around 2:10 pm. The Delhi-Kanpur flight was bound to return to Delhi just before the rat was spotted inside the aircraft by one of the cabin crew.
One of the officials, while putting light on the incident, said that, “The rat was spotted first by the crew, and soon after some time, the flyers also saw the same rodent that caused panic among the public. Soon after the rodent was seen, passengers were alarmed about the incident, and therefore the flight was delayed.”
As per reports, all 172 passengers who boarded the plane were disembarked. The technical staff present and the crew members at the Kanpur Airport took over the situation. The official further added that the rat was found after three hours inside the aircraft.
The Kanpur-Delhi flight, which was supposed to depart at 2:55 pm, departed at 6:04 pm, marking a significant delay of around three hours.
Addressing the incident, the Kanpur Airport director asserted that, “The aircraft was completely safe until one of the crew members found the rat inside the aircraft.”
He further added that, “Since there were no technical issues in the aircraft, the denial of departing from Delhi-bound Kanpur was not even a question.”
However, Indigo Airlines did not issue any statement about the incident that took place at the Kanpur airport.
In another scenario, an IndiGo flight from Mumbai to Phuket earlier on September 19 was diverted to Chennai on Friday after a security threat was detected onboard, the airline said in an official statement.
Flight 6E 1089, which took off from Mumbai, was heading to Phuket in Thailand when the issue arose. Following standard safety protocols, the crew immediately alerted the relevant officials, and the flight was diverted to Chennai for precautionary security checks.
All passengers were safely disembarked in Chennai, where the aircraft was undergoing security inspections by the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) and the police.
