The Tibetan Centre for Human Rights and Democracy (TCHRD), an organisation based in Himachal Pradesh’s Dharamshala, released a report revealing Chinese authorities' surveillance of exiled Tibetans to collect personal information. TCHRD Spokesperson Tenzin Dawa on February 18 claimed that the Chinese Communist Party targeted the Tibetan diaspora using family members back inside Tibet to control.

External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar met Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow on December 27. Both leaders held bilateral talks during which Russian Prez Putin called Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi a ‘dear friend’ and invited him to Russia. Vladimir Putin said, “Despite all the turmoil happening worldwide, the relationship with our true friends in Asia-India has been progressing incrementally. Regarding the situation in Ukraine, many times I advised him of how things have been going there and I know that he is willing to do his utmost...We will be glad to see our dear friend, Prime Minister Modi paying a visit to Russia...Please tell him that we expect him here. I know that India, next year will have a busy political schedule (general elections). We wish our friends success in that.”Earlier in the day, Jaishankar also met Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov and held discussions on a wide range of global issues Indo-Pacific, Ukraine conflict as well as Gaza. Notably, Jaishankar is on a four-day visit to Russia from December 25-29.

Amid the Israel-Hamas Conflict, after Russia and China vetoed the US-authored draft resolution condemning the terror attacks by Hamas on Israel, Gilad Erdan, the Israeli ambassador to the United Nations, said that had these countries endured a similar massacre, they would have acted with much greater force than his nation. “In Israel, we are fighting for our very survival. If any of your countries endured a similar massacre, I am certain that you would act with much greater force than Israel,” he said. “There would be no question in your mind that such a barbaric slaughter requires a broad military operation against the terrorists who committed such inhumane atrocities to eradicate their terrorist capabilities in order to make sure that such atrocities can never happen again,” he added, referring to Russia.

Satellite images taken over a number of Chinese cities have captured crowding at crematoriums and funeral homes, as the country continues its battle with an unprecedented wave of Covid-19 infections following its dismantling of severe pandemic restrictions. Japan’s Former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe’s assassination came as a shock to everyone. Queen Elizabeth II- the UK’s longest-serving monarch died at age 96 in September. In February, Vladimir Putin announced Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. Agra's Taj Mahal has been placed on high alert following an increase in COVID cases in several countries, especially China. Several countries, including China, Japan, South Korea, France, and the United States, have seen an alarming surge in COVID cases. In order to prevent the spread of infection, all visitors must undergo a test. Health Ministry officials were directed to ensure effective implementation of COVID prevention measures. Taj Mahal visitors are required to wear masks. Anil Satsangi, the District Health Information Officer said, "The health department has already started the tests to prevent the spread of infection. As the alert is on, the tests have now been made mandatory for all the visitors."
