Sonam Wangchuk, climate activist, ends 21 day hunger strike In Ladakh

On 26th of March, engineer turned education reformer Sonam Wangchuk, who was on fast over several demands, ended his 21-day ‘Climate Fast’. Hundreds of people joined Wangchuk in Leh as he ended his fast. The climate activist and his supporters have demanded statehood for Ladakh and its inclusion under the Sixth Schedule of the Constitution of India. The educator accused the BJP government of backtracking from its promise of extending safeguards guaranteed under the sixth schedule of the Constitution to Ladakh. On tuesday, 26th of March ending his fast, Sonam Wangchuk reminded the people ballot power and urged them to use it very carefully in the ensuing Lok Sabha elections.

Did US Intelligence Help India Force China’s PLA To Retreat During Tawang Clash

India repelled Chinese Military in Tawang as the US provided crucial intelligence to India. The US intelligence helped India rout China in the 2022 border clash, reported US News. US Govt provided real-time details to India of the Chinese positions and force’s strength. The U.S. government for the first time provided real-time details to its Indian counterparts of the Chinese positions and force strength in advance of a PLA incursion, says a source familiar with a previously unreported U.S. intelligence review of the encounter into the Arunachal Pradesh region. The information included actionable satellite imagery and was more detailed and delivered more quickly than anything the U.S. had previously shared with the Indian military, reported US News. National Security Council Coordinator for Strategic Communications, John Kirby refuses to comment. On Dec 9, 2022, hundreds of Indian, Chinese troops clashed along the LAC in Tawang Sector. Indian and Chinese forces sustained injuries following the confrontation at the border areas. Home Minister Amit Shah said, “no one can capture even an inch of land in PM Modi’s regime”. India, China held 17 rounds of military talks, but unable to reach terms for disengagement. MEA in its Annual Report 2021-22, said that attempts by China to change the status quo impacted India-China relations. A month after a clash between Indian and Chinese troops along the LAC in the Tawang sector, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh visited Arunachal Pradesh to inaugurate a series of development projects. 'China ready to work with India' - Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi

China and India have maintained communication through the diplomatic and military-to-military channels, and both countries are committed to upholding stability in the border areas, said Wang. Wang, along with National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, is the Special Representative of the India-China boundary mechanism which has remained dormant in the present set of border standoffs. In his lengthy address on China*s diplomatic work, Wang focused more on China*s troubled ties with the US and burgeoning relations with Russia, despite the Ukraine war.
