Days after the launch of her debut novel, When A Met B, veteran television producer and writer Sapna Bhattacharya is receiving appreciation from readers and industry professionals for both her storytelling and the inspiring journey behind the book.

The novel, launched on 9 May 2026 at Title Waves, marks a major creative milestone for Bhattacharya, who is best known for producing the iconic Zee TV serial Amanat. The television drama, which aired from 1997 to 2002, became one of the defining family serials of its era and established Bhattacharya as a respected storyteller within the Indian entertainment industry.

While When A Met B introduces readers to a contemporary story about workplace relationships, emotional conflicts, friendships, and ambition, it is the author's personal story that has emerged as one of the strongest talking points following the launch.

After losing close family members, Bhattacharya stepped away from many personal ambitions to take care of her late brother Sanjiv Bhattacharya's two young sons. Alongside managing television productions that were still on air, she dedicated herself fully to family responsibilities, quietly putting aside her dream of becoming a published author.

Now, decades later, that dream has finally taken shape through When A Met B.

The novel speaks to younger audiences stepping into professional life while also creating a nostalgic emotional connection for readers who grew up during the 1990s. Industry insiders believe the book's relatability and emotional realism are among the key reasons it has generated strong interest after its launch.

According to literary observers present at the event, Bhattacharya's transition from television producer to author reflects a growing shift where established storytellers are exploring more personal narratives through books and long-form writing.

Guests at the launch included Suchitra Krishnamoorthi, actor Arif Zakaria, and moderator Harry Anand, all of whom praised the emotional sincerity of Bhattacharya's journey and congratulated her on fulfilling a lifelong dream.

During her interaction with attendees, Bhattacharya spoke about the importance of resilience and patience.

"Dreams may get delayed because life takes you in another direction," she said. "But if they truly belong to you, they eventually find their way back."

Apart from her work in television, Bhattacharya has also made her mark in independent cinema. Her short film Ten Past Twelve received the Critics Award at Manhattan Shorts India and won Best Story at the Navi Mumbai Short Film Festival. Her production Madhab also premiered internationally at the Woodstock Film Festival in New York.

The book has been published by India's leading traditional publishing brand, Anecdote Publishing House, marking an important new chapter in Sapna Bhattacharya's creative career and bringing her long-awaited literary dream to readers across generations.

As readers continue discovering When A Met B, Bhattacharya's journey is emerging as an inspiring reminder that creativity, ambition, and personal dreams do not come with an age limit.
