About 3 Idiots

Released in 2009, 3 Idiots is a coming-of-age comedy-drama directed by Rajkumar Hirani and produced by Vidhu Vinod Chopra. Starring Aamir Khan, R Madhavan, Sharman Joshi, Kareena Kapoor Khan, and Boman Irani, the film follows three engineering students as they navigate academic pressure.

Rajkumar Hirani is working on the 3 Idiots sequel, and Aamir Khan will be a part of it. The actor confirmed the news during Ek Din promotions. He revealed that the story follows Rancho, Farhan, and Raju 10 years later. He called the script "wonderful" but said it is still in progress. Aamir expressed his excitement about playing Phunsukh Wangdu again. He said, "It's a beautiful story conceived by Raju and Abhijat. I'm looking forward to it, and to playing Phunsukh Wangdu again."

Recently, Aamir Khan confirmed that his character in 3 Idiots is not based on Sonam Wangchuk. Speaking at the recent London Indian Film Festival, Aamir said, "That is a misconception. I didn't know about Mr. Sonam at that time when we were doing the film, 3 Idiots. I saw a video of Chatur just recently, and he said that. But he is wrong. However, what Mr. Sonam is doing is good work in any case. He doesn't have to be based on a character from 3 Idiots for us to respect him and the work that he does."
