Veteran actor Amitabh Bachchan has sparked concern among fans after revealing that he has been advised to take a few days off to rest and recover. The 84-year-old actor shared the update on social media on Wednesday, October 21, apologising to fans for being unable to write or respond to messages during this period.
Taking to X, Bachchan wrote, "Apologies. I seek forgiveness. I have been advised to take a few days off to rest and recover, so I am unable to write anything at the moment."
The actor also addressed his absence from regular communication through a post on his personal blog. Extending his Dussehra wishes, he wrote, "First Dussehra greetings to all.. love happiness, fulfilment, prayers. Under very strict rest and recuperation... so am not allowed to communicate.... do excuse... my apologies."
Bachchan, who regularly connects with fans through his blog and social media posts, did not disclose the reason behind the medical advice or share further details about his health. He also suffered a knee injury recently.
Following the actor's posts, fans expressed concern online and sent him wishes for a speedy recovery. Bachchan has maintained a long-standing tradition of communicating with his followers through his personal blog, often sharing reflections, greetings and updates from his life.
The update comes amid reports concerning the recent firing case involving actor Tiger Shroff. According to reports citing Mumbai Crime Branch sources, the accused allegedly conducted reconnaissance of several Bollywood celebrities' residences, including those of Bachchan and Salman Khan, before the attack.
On the professional front, Bachchan is expected to return as Ashwatthama in Nag Ashwin's sequel to Kalki 2898 AD, which also stars Prabhas. The actor played a pivotal role in the 2024 science-fiction film, which brought together mythology and a futuristic setting.
For now, Bachchan has not shared any further information about his health or indicated whether his rest period will affect his professional commitments. Fans will be awaiting his next update as the veteran actor takes time to recover.
