Actress Amrita Arora has largely stayed away from films in the past few years, although she has made appearances on her and her friends' social media accounts. She was last seen on-screen on her sister Malaika Arora's reality show, Moving In With Malaika. However, recently, Amrita grabbed attention online when she shared a picture of herself on Instagram showcasing her noticeable weight-loss transformation.
While fans seemed quite impressed by her new look, many speculated if she had used weight-loss medications such as Ozempic or Mounjaro to achieve the dramatic transformation.
Amrita shared a transformed picture of herself, summing up her transformation in one word, "Redemption". She has now opened up about her transformation, revealing that it was about much more than losing weight. "It was about the emotional and physical journey I have been through to reach a place where I am just so happy to be in. I have got myself back to what and where I want to be," Amrita told Hindustan Times.
The 45-year-old actress revealed that she has lost 14 kg over the past few months. "I took it as a challenge for myself. I was the worst version of myself for two to three years," she shares.
However, her drastic transformation also sparked speculation regarding the use of weight-loss drugs like Ozempic and Mounjaro. Clarifying the rumours and speculations, she said, "Sadly, it has come at a time when all these words are flying around. I've been extremely petite since my early days, and throughout my career⦠even after having two kids. It was only in 2023 that I kind of fell off the rails, and that is what stuck weirdly most with people."
She added how she chooses to be unfazed by the speculation, adding, "I let people say what they want to because they are going to say things regardless. It's all good."
Amrita is known for films such as Golmaal Returns (2008) and Kambakkht Ishq (2009). She married businessman Shakeel Ladak in 2009. The couple has two sons together, Azaan, 16 and Rayaan, 14.
