Cinematographer Pratik Shah, known for his work on Jubilee, CTRL and Homebound, has publicly apologised nearly a year after multiple women accused him of sexual misconduct, emotional abuse and predatory behaviour. In a statement shared with The Hollywood Reporter India, Shah admitted to his mistakes, expressed remorse for his actions and revealed that he has been undergoing therapy and maintaining sobriety as part of his rehabilitation.

Amid allegations of sexual misconduct against Homebound cinematographer Pratik Shah, Dharma Productions had issued a statement. They spoke about Shah's association with the Neeraj Ghaywan-directorial and how during the shoot of the film, they did not receive any complaints.

Reflecting on the allegations, Shah said he deeply regrets the hurt he caused in both his professional and personal relationships. He admitted that as his career gained momentum, he allowed the attention and success to cloud his judgement.

"I am deeply remorseful for the mistakes I made and the hurt that I have caused," Shah said in his statement. He added that he acted out of insecurity and a desire for validation, while failing to recognise the privilege and influence he held.

Shah further acknowledged that trying to argue over specific details did not change the reality of his actions. He accepted responsibility for the impact his behaviour had on those around him, including his family, friends and professional collaborators.

Shah's therapy, sobriety and career fallout

Shah also revealed that he has spent the past year working on himself through weekly therapy sessions aimed at addressing the root causes of his behaviour. He said he has also remained sober for more than a year, describing sobriety as an important part of his ongoing rehabilitation.

"I know none of this excuses the past. For that, I am truly sorry and ashamed. But I am committed to learning from my failures and earning back trust through my actions," he said.

The allegations against Shah surfaced in 2025, when several women accused him of inappropriate behaviour and emotional abuse. Following the controversy, he was removed from multiple projects.

Among them was the upcoming Sourav Ganguly biopic starring Rajkummar Rao, from which Shah was dropped after the allegations emerged. According to The Hollywood Reporter India, Yash Raj Films has also decided not to credit him for its upcoming web series Akka, despite him having completed work on the project before the controversy.

Shah's statement marks his first detailed public response since the allegations surfaced, as he says he is now focused on accountability and rebuilding trust through his future actions.
