Ever since the Ramayana trailer dropped, there have been mixed reviews about Ranbir Kapoor's casting as Lord Rama. Now, Ravi Dubey has come out in support of Ranbir amid criticism from some quarters. Praising his co-star's work ethic, preparation and grounded nature, Dubey called Ranbir simply the best we have.
In an interview with Variety India, Ravi heaped praise on his co-star Ranbir amid the criticism surrounding his casting as Lord Rama. The actor said, "I think Ranbir is simply the best we have. He is a superstar of epic proportions, but what has stayed with me even more is the human being and the artiste I have witnessed at close range. The sincerity with which he comes onto a set is unparalleled. His work ethic, etiquette, intensity and preparation; I had heard so much about these things, but I had the privilege of witnessing them firsthand."
He added, "And alongside all of that is this incredibly grounded, warm and inclusive nature. There is no weight of his stardom in the way he interacts with people. I find that enormously inspiring. It is my great good fortune to be a part of this journey alongside Ranbir, Namit (Malhotra), Nitesh (Tiwari), Yash, Sai Pallavi and every single person associated with Ramayana."
Shiv Sagar, who is the grandson of legendary filmmaker Ramanand Sagar, recently mentioned that he cannot accept Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram since the actor has been associated with films like Animal. Shiv feels that the actor's image from his previous work could make it tough for some viewers to accept him in the role of Lord Ram.
Ramayana is shaping up to be one of the grandest cinematic spectacles ever envisioned in Indian cinema. Billed as a two-part epic, the film has already created immense buzz across the country and overseas, with a celebrated ensemble cast and an acclaimed creative team coming together for the ambitious project. After months of anticipation, the makers recently dropped the much-awaited trailer, which received a phenomenal response and created a historic moment in Indian cinema. On the auspicious occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi, the makers unveiled the song Jai Jai Ram, composed by A.R. Rahman, penned by Dr. Kumar Vishwas, and soulfully sung by Arijit Singh and Shreya Ghoshal.
