Actor Tiger Shroff escaped unhurt after unidentified persons opened fire at his car in Mumbai's Juhu area on Sunday evening, October 18. The incident took place near Pushpa Park, within the jurisdiction of Juhu police station, as the actor was leaving in his vehicle after playing football at a club.
A large crowd had gathered to catch a glimpse of Shroff when three to four rounds were fired at his car from within the crowd. The circumstances surrounding the incident are being investigated.
Confirming the actor's safety, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Mumbai Police, said, "Firing incident is reported under Juhu PS. Mr Tiger Shroff is safe. He has not got any fire shot injury. Further investigation is underway." Shroff and his driver were taken to Nanavati Hospital in Juhu following the incident. His driver, Firdoz, has sustained a bullet injury to his left hand, and a bystander called Umesh Chauhan, has also sustained an injury and is hospitalised, the police informed.
A 35-year-old man also sustained a gunshot wound in Vile Parle West at around 6.30 pm while covering a football match featuring Tiger. He was admitted to Cooper Hospital at 7.10 pm with an entry wound below his left nipple and is stable, according to BMC.
A social media post attributed to Anil Pandit and Anmol Bishnoi has claimed responsibility for the firing. The post also names Harman Sandhu and threatens further violence against people in the Mumbai film industry who do not heed the group's demands or work with Salman Khan.
"We had called him and tried to explain things to him, but he did not understand. So today, we made sure to explain it to him properly," the post said in Hindi. Pandit further warned, "Anyone in the Mumbai film industry who does not listen to us or works with Salman Khan will be next. Wait and watch." The alleged responsibility claimed online does not, by itself, establish who carried out the firing.
Mumbai Police have launched a manhunt to identify and apprehend those involved. Specialised teams are examining CCTV footage from the surrounding area to gather evidence and establish the sequence of events. Investigators are also looking into how the shots were fired near the crowded location as Shroff's vehicle was leaving the ground. The identities of the assailants and the circumstances leading up to the incident remain under investigation.
While the actor has been confirmed safe, the suspected injury to his driver awaits official confirmation. Police have said further investigation is underway, and more details are expected as investigators verify the evidence and pursue those responsible.
