Vir Das and Aamir Khan
Finally, Aamir Khan Productions' quirky spy film Happy Patel has been announced.
Marking Vir Das's directorial debut, the film stars Vir Das and Mona Singh. As fun and interesting as the title sounds, the makers have unveiled the film with an even funnier announcement video featuring Aamir Khan and Vir Das.
The announcement of Happy Patel has been made most unconventionally and humorously. In the video, Aamir Khan is seen questioning Vir Das's approach to showcasing action, romance, and even an item number in the film. While Aamir appears worried about how the audience might react, the video simultaneously shows others praising the film.
Actor Imran Khan is also seen in a brief glimpse from the announcement.
Having delivered remarkable films like Lagaan, Taare Zameen Par, Dangal, and Secret Superstar, this marks yet another attempt at presenting unique cinema. Interestingly, they are collaborating with the renowned stand-up comedian Vir Das, who has not only performed globally with his acclaimed comedy specials but has also acted in films like Go Goa Gone, Badmaash Company, and Delhi Belly.
This film marks Vir's second collaboration with Aamir Khan Productions after Delhi Belly. Produced under the banner of Aamir Khan Productions, Happy Patel will be directed by Vir Das and is slated to release in theatres on 16th January 2026.
Imran Khan's glimpse from the announcement has set the internet ablaze as fans are excited to view him on the big screen again, Imran Khan, an actor who took a decade off from films, is preparing to return to the screen. He will reunite with Danish Aslam, the director of Break Ke Baad, which was released 15 years ago, later this month. In a recent interview, Imran discussed his comeback project and his co-star, Bhumi Pednekar.
During a chat with the Hindustan Times, Iman Khan described his future project as "a natural progression."' He said, "The movie is just like what the team of Break Ke Baad would be doing 15 years later in life. It's a natural progression. Danish and I now have a collective life experience. He's been married, I've been through a divorce. It's just the film we should make 15 years later. This is very much a personal project that came from the creative urge of wanting to tell a story and working with dear friends. The shoot is complete, and it's in post-production. We are looking at releasing it once the streaming platform decides on the date."
