Sohail Khan recently shared an interesting anecdote about his family during the latest episode of Alliance, revealing that he had once planned to name his elder son "Ram Khan" before ex-wife Seema Sajdeh unexpectedly chose the name Nirvaan. The former couple, who reunited on the reality show after their divorce, have often spoken about their cordial relationship and co-parenting dynamic.
During a conversation on the show, contestant Aly Goni complimented Sohail and Seema's sons, calling them well-mannered and remarking that Nirvaan is a carbon copy of his father.
That prompted Sohail to revisit the story behind his son's name.
"When Seema was carrying Nirvaan, we had decided in a lighthearted moment that if it were a boy, I would name him, and if it were a girl, Seema would name her. My idea was to name my son Ram Khan. We are very secular in that regard," Sohail shared.
However, things didn't go according to plan.
Recalling the moment after Nirvaan's birth, Sohail said, "When Seema came into consciousness after giving birth, she had already thought of a name. The doctor said it's a boy, so I entered the room. She looked at me, she was a little drowsy, and said, 'How's Nirvaan doing?' She said it in such a way that I didn't want to change it after that."
The actor also joked that, much like his name, Nirvaan has grown up to be a calm and composed person.
Sohail Khan and Seema Sajdeh married in 1998 after eloping despite opposition from their families. The couple welcomed two sons, Nirvaan and Yohaan, before ending their marriage in 2022 after over two decades together.
Despite their separation, the two have maintained an amicable equation and continue to co-parent their children. On Alliance, Sohail had earlier revealed that while love may have changed over the years, his respect for Seema remains intact. He also shared that their sons currently live with him, while Seema visits the house several times a week to spend time with them.
The actor has previously opened up about Nirvaan's aspirations of joining the film industry. In an earlier interview with Pinkvilla, Sohail said he would prefer his son to learn by observing seasoned actors such as Ajay Devgn, Akshay Kumar, Pankaj Tripathi, Shahid Kapoor and Nana Patekar rather than beginning his journey as an assistant director.
Now, with his candid revelation about almost naming his son "Ram Khan," Sohail has given fans another glimpse into the personal moments that have shaped his family's journey.
