Alexandra Grant and Keanu Reeves
Rumours recently circulated that beloved Hollywood star Keanu Reeves had secretly tied the knot with his longtime partner Alexandra Grant. Reports claimed the couple held a private ceremony earlier this summer during a European trip. While Grant was touched by the outpouring of love and congratulatory messages from fans, she clarified that the two are not married. To put an end to the speculation, she shared a genuine photo to counter the fake wedding pictures circulating online.
On Wednesday, Grant took to social media and posted a candid picture of herself and Reeves sharing a kiss while seated on a staircase. The couple could be seen holding hands as they leaned in for the kiss.
Sharing the post, Grant pointed out that the image was authentic and not an AI-generated wedding photo of the duo.
"This is a real photo. Not an engagement photo or an AI wedding announcement⦠simply a kiss! (Albeit maybe the moment right before or after it⦠given the slightly goofy expressions on our faces!) We're at Roden Crater, and Keanu and I had just finished interviewing James Turrell for Visionaries," she wrote.
Grant further clarified that while she and Reeves are not married, she appreciated the warmth from fans.
"I'm sharing it here to say thank you to everyone for the congratulations on our wedding. Except we didn't get married. Good news is much needed these days, but it's still fake news, so be careful out there! So, here's a bit of real happiness!"
Grant is a celebrated visual artist and writer. She first met Reeves at a party in 2009. Their friendship blossomed into creative collaboration when they co-authored the book Ode to Happiness. Over time, their bond grew into a romance, and the couple went public with their relationship in 2019. It was notably the first time in two decades that Reeves openly shared his private life.
Their red-carpet appearances quickly made them one of Hollywood's most admired couples. Friends of Reeves often describe Grant as a steady presence in his life, calling her his "rock" and crediting her for bringing him peace after years of hardship.
For context, Reeves has endured profound personal tragedies. In 1999, he and his then-girlfriend, actress Jennifer Syme, lost their baby. Just two years later, Syme tragically died in a car accident at age 28. Reeves has previously reflected on grief, saying, "Sorrow and loss never truly disappear." Those close to him believe that Grant has been instrumental in helping him heal, offering comfort and stability over the years.
