Marvel Studios brought an unforgettable presentation to Hall H at this year's San Diego Comic-Con. The blockbuster showcase included a massive Avengers: Doomsday panel. While the cast and makers from the MCU were present, Ryan Reynolds stole the show with a surprise appearance. Dressed in a new grey Deadpool suit, the actor jokingly campaigned for his character's inclusion in Avengers: Doomsday.

Ryan Reynolds on returning to the MCU

Deadpool returning in Avengers: Doomsday was the announcement Ryan Reynolds was hoping to make as he gate-crashed Marvel Studios' San Diego Comic-Con panel. The actor, who plays the iconic Merc with a Mouth, cheekily campaigned for Deadpool's inclusion in the upcoming Marvel blockbuster, making a surprise appearance in a new grey Deadpool suit. Reynolds playfully urged the Russo Brothers to let Deadpool join Earth's Mightiest Heroes, turning the moment into one of the biggest highlights of Marvel's SDCC presentation.

He first turned to Paul Rudd, reviving one of the funniest callbacks from Deadpool & Wolverine. "First question is for Mr. Paul Rudd. Where is Thor, and why was he crying?" Reynolds teasingly asked the Ant-Man actor, referring to the memorable scene in the 2024 film in which Chris Hemsworth's Thor is seen holding a dying Deadpool in what appears to be a glimpse of the future. The callback left the audience in splits as Rudd and Reynolds exchanged playful banter.

Reynolds then turned his attention to the Avengers: Doomsday cast and quipped, "This seems like an awfully expensive way to announce a film. When do you start filming?" Robert Downey Jr., who is set to play Doctor Doom in the film, quickly responded, "It's in the can, bro. Look around you. Did you bump your head?"

"I see. So, there's no additional photography, no overages, hot costs, maybe last-minute additions?" Reynolds continued, trying to negotiate his way into the film before declaring, "No further questions. Happy Hogan, fetch the Audi. We're leaving," as he exited the panel, leaving the audience in splits.

About the Avengers: Doomsday trailer

The film's trailer, released earlier this week, shattered viewing records within its first 24 hours. The film also marks Robert Downey Jr.'s return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but this time he won't be reprising Iron Man. Instead, he is set to take on the role of the franchise's next big villain, Doctor Doom.

Avengers: Doomsday is set to release on December 18 in Indian cinemas in English, Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu.
