Kit Harington and Sophie Turner
Game of Thrones star Kit Harington opened up about the embarrassing moment when he had to kiss his co-star Sophie Turner in The Dreadful.
The 38-year-old actor had to stand on an apple box to give his co-star Sophie Turner a kiss because she is taller than him, reports âFemale First UK'.
Shooting the scene felt "a bit weird" for the duo because they played siblings, Jon Snow and Sansa Stark, in HBO's Game of Thrones.
Talking about the same, Kit told E! News, "It was slightly embarrassing, having to get on an apple box to kiss her because she's about a foot taller than me. But other than that, my dignity was pretty intact".
As per âFemale First UK', the star felt uneasy when he discovered that he and Sophie's characters are lovers in The Dreadful.
Kit recalled, "She was one that sent that movie to me and somehow didn't see what I saw in it. I was like, 'These guys, these are lovers, right?' I felt very odd about that".
Nonetheless, Kit loved acting alongside Sophie, 29, again, as he said, "It was a good chance to be with her again and work together. What was lovely is that we got on set together and our friendship completely ignited again. It felt like being with family. It really did".
Sophie had also discussed her kissing scenes with Kit on Late Night With Seth Meyers in August. "So, I sent the script to Kit, and he kind of sent me a message back going like, âYeah, I'd love to, but this is going to be really fucking weird, Soph,'" Turner said. "And I was like, âWhat is he talking about?' Then I was reading and it's like, âKiss, kiss, sex, kiss, sexâ¦' And then I'm like, âOh, shoot, that's my brother.' We put it out of our minds, and then we get on set, and it's the first kissing scene, and we are both retching. Like, really, it is vile. It was the worst."
The Dreadful is a gothic horror story set in the 15th century during the Wars of the Roses. The story follows Anne (Turner) and her mother-in-law, Morwen, who exist on the outskirts of society. When a man (Harington) from their past re-enters their life, he triggers a chain of events that upends Anne's life.
The film is written and directed by Natasha Kermani. It also stars Marcia Gay Harden, Laurence O'Fuarain and Jonathan Howard.
A release date for The Dreadful is yet to be announced.
