Travis Scott
Rapper Travis Scott had his first-ever concert in India on Saturday evening, kicking off his India tour with a performance in the capital city, Delhi. During his concert at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Scott got off the stage intending to get closer to the audience. However, he got a little too close, prompting security to intervene.
According to videos circulating on social media, the rapper stepped down from the stage to interact with fans, but things quickly turned chaotic. Excited concertgoers reached out and tried to pull him toward them, forcing security to step in and rescue the artist from the crowd. Order was restored within seconds, and Scott continued his performance. Videos of the moment have since gone viral, showcasing the intense excitement of his fans.
Travis Scott's India debut was claimed to be sold out. However, attendees shared videos of empty seats and a smaller crowd, expressing disappointment at the turnout. More than 3,400 personnel, including 1,600 private security staff and around 1,800 Delhi Police officers, were deployed for safety and logistics.
Many concertgoers took to social media to complain about waiting for nearly four hours for the show to start and blamed the organisers for choosing a festive weekend, leading to traffic and logistical chaos in the city.
The American rapper has had five number-one hits on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart, along with a total of over one hundred charting songs. He is one of the best selling rappers of all time, and boasts of ten Grammy Award nominations.
He has won a Latin Grammy Award, Billboard Music Award, MTV Video Music Award, and several BET Hip Hop Awards. His musical style has been described as a "blend between traditional hip-hop and lo-fi" and often characterized as "ambient," with a heavily appraised influence from rappers Kanye West and Kid Cudi.
Produced and promoted by BookMyShow Live, the live entertainment experiential division of BookMyShow, in collaboration with Live Nation, the limited global run of the tour will span six countries, kicking off on Saturday, October 11 in Johannesburg, South Africa at FNB Stadium, before continuing with additional stops in New Delhi, India; Seoul, Korea; Sanya, Hainan, China; Tokyo, Japan; Abu Dhabi, UAE and Mumbai, India.
