Kim Kardashian has responded to criticism after fans questioned why she shared cheerful vacation photos just hours before news of her grandmother Mary Jo "MJ" Shannon's death became public. The reality star found herself facing backlash after posting a carousel of pictures from a lakeside getaway with her four children, boyfriend Lewis Hamilton and sister Khloe Kardashian. Shortly after the post went live, Kris Jenner announced that her mother, MJ, had passed away at the age of 91.
As social media users criticised the timing of the upload, Kim Kardashian stepped into the comments section to explain that the post had been scheduled several days in advance by her team and was never intended to coincide with her grandmother's passing.
"This post was scheduled a few days ago before we lost MJ, so its timing came right alongside her passing," Kim wrote.
She also reassured followers that she had spent the past week with her family during the difficult time.
"I've been by my mom and grandma's side this past week, and my heart is completely with my family right now. We love and miss her so deeply, and in the days ahead, we'll be focusing on celebrating her beautiful life," she added.
Kim shared a heartfelt tribute to MJ on Instagram, remembering her as one of the biggest influences in her life and career.
The entrepreneur recalled how her grandmother introduced her to the value of hard work by giving her her very first job at a family store in San Diego.
"You were the woman who showed me what it meant to be a hardworking businesswoman," Kim wrote. "You gave me my very first job at your store in San Diego and taught me lessons about work ethic, strength and confidence that I've carried with me ever since."
She described MJ as someone who always believed in her, supported her ambitions and remained a constant source of comfort throughout her life.
Kim also honoured her grandmother's role as the family's matriarch, saying her influence would continue to guide future generations.
"I know you're at peace now. You will always be a part of me. I love you soooooo much and I will miss you forever and ever. YOU ARE THE BEST OF US!!!" she wrote.
