As anticipation builds for the second season of Lock Upp, producer Ektaa Kapoor has finally addressed the question many fans have been asking: why isn't Kangana Ranaut returning as the host?
The reality show, which gained significant attention during its debut season, is set to return with a revamped format and a new hosting duo. This time, filmmaker Farah Khan and actor Riteish Deshmukh will take charge of the controversial prison-themed reality series, which is now being backed by Netflix.
Speaking at a recent media interaction ahead of the show's premiere, Ektaa clarified that Kangana's absence was not due to any disagreement or fallout. Instead, she explained that scheduling conflicts played a major role in the decision. According to the producer, Kangana is currently occupied with multiple professional commitments, making it difficult for her to dedicate the required time to the reality show.
Ektaa emphasized that Kangana remains an important part of the Lock Upp journey and credited her for helping establish the show's identity during its first season. However, with the new season taking a different creative direction and moving to a larger streaming platform, the makers felt it was the right time to introduce a fresh hosting combination.
